In the winter of 2014, Longwood Fire Company signed a contract with Pierce Manufacturing to design and build a new fire engine to replace our 2001 Pierce Rescue-Engine.
The apparatus committee designed a vehicle very similar to our 2012 Pierce ArrowXT. We changed the mission of this vehicle to accommodate our current operation. The new engine will be an engine company equipped with a small cache of vehicle extrication equipment.
E-25-2 will be have the same overall dimensions as E-25-1 which will allow us to streamline the training requirements, allowing us to place the vehicle in service in a shorter time frame. This will also allow ease of operations as the controls are in the same exact place as E-25-1.
We will continue to update the progress of the engine as quickly as possible.
This vehicle was funded 100% by the Residents and Supervisors of Kennett Township.
