On Wednesday November 19, 2014 at approximately 3:30 PM, Engine 25-1 and Ladder 25 were investigating an electrical odor at the Wal-Mart in East Marlborough Township when the Kennett Fire Company (Station 24) was dispatched to the 200 block of North Union Street for a house on fire. Chief 24 (Melton) arrived within minutes and advised that the back of the building was well involved and requested a second alarm for the assignment. Ladder 25 cleared the Wal-Mart incident and responded to assist Kennett.

Ladder 25 (Capt. LaBare) arrived a few minutes later and pulled to the rear of the building which was conveniently located right next to a fire hydrant. Two members of the crew pulled a 2.5" attack line while the Ladder driver connected to the hydrant. The 2.5" line was used to knock down the bulk of visible fire, which was blowing out of several windows to the rear of the house. Engine 25-1 and Rescue 25 also responded to the scene and their crews assisted with ventilating the roof, removing windows and opening up walls and ceilings. Crews from at least six other fire companies then spent the next five hours going through the massive structure opening up walls to extinguish numerous other areas of fire that were extremely difficult to get to. This required extensive amounts of overhaul in almost every room in the house.
